You can think of prebiotics as food for the microorganisms in your gut. They serve an important role because when the right bacteria are fueled, they can support the gut lining, reduce inflammation, metabolize nutrients, and through the skin-gut-brain-microbiome axis, may support skin health, brain health, and mental health. They help your gut wall to absorb critical nutrients and your gut microbiome to synthesize key vitamins.
